INJECTABLES

Everyone wants and should have a smile that they love and want to show off. Your smile is usually one of the first things other people notice about you. It’s understandable why you would want to make a good impression with a beautiful smile.

Over the years, dental professionals have learned how beneficial injectables can be for improving the appearance and functionality of your smile. As a result, we now have several effective injectable treatment solutions for healthy and beautiful smiles.

Traditionally, injectables have been used for cosmetic purposes, such as diminishing wrinkles. But now, these injectables have made their way into the dental industry and provide patients with a variety of benefits. Dentists all over the country are now using this treatment, including us.

What are Injectables in Dentistry?

Injectables are proteins that block the nerve signals around the injection site and are effective at relaxing muscles. These treatments are temporary and must be redone on a regular basis to maintain the benefits of these treatments. We use these injectables in a variety of situations to help improve our patients’ smiles.

Injectables Can Be Beneficial

Injectables used to improve dental health provide a non-invasive solution to many different issues, such as:

  • High lip lines
  • Asymmetrical smile
  • Mouth pain
  • TMJ pain
  • Grinding teeth

While these treatments work for some, they aren’t the best choice for everybody, which is why our experts will determine if you are a good candidate and recommend the use of injectables for your dental treatment.

Most of our injectable treatments are quick and easy and can last up to 6 months before requiring another treatment.

DERMAL FILLERS

What Are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are essentially injectable implants that can be used on the face for cosmetic purposes.

Traditionally, fillers are used to treat deep wrinkles, thin lips, scars, and facial deformities. They add volume and can improve the shape and appearance of the area. These injections are also known to increase collagen and revitalize several layers of skin.

In addition, fillers restore elasticity and strength to the skin. Fillers are a non-invasive way to reverse the effects of aging, and the results are noticeable immediately after treatment. The results can last up to two years.

Why Choose a Dentist for Fillers?

Dentists are true experts when it comes to the anatomy and composition of the face and mouth. They have extensive training and understanding of the care it takes to achieve and maintain a beautiful smile. That being said, dentists have extensive training about how and where to administer injections such as dermal fillers.

Traditionally, fillers are used to improve a person’s appearance and bring youthfulness back in a single injection. Dentists are the best-equipped and most experienced specialists to administer fillers to treat issues and conditions involving the teeth and mouth.

Various Fillers for an Unforgettable Smile Makeover

Depending on the results you’re after, we will decide on which type of dermal filler is best for you accordingly. At Covington Dental Arts, we provide a variety of filler options to ensure all of our patients get the best results possible. We offer Restylane, Voluma, and Juvederm fillers to treat dental problems. We apply these injections in and around the tissues of the mouth to correct issues and give your smile the makeover you’ve always wanted.

Dental Benefits Filler Can Provide

The most commonly known benefits that fillers can provide are cosmetic, even with dental procedures. Around the mouth, fillers can improve the fullness and youthfulness of the lips, cheeks, jaw, and even neck. Fillers can also remove lines and wrinkles, add volume to the gums to decrease gaps in the teeth and add volume to the gums to reverse gum recession.

PDO Threads

Are you looking for a less expensive method to lift and rejuvenate your skin without surgery, while healing external and internal wounds? PDO Threads are a less invasive method for facial lifts and restoring collagen in your skin.

If your face is sagging, the dentists at Covington Dental Arts can do a PDO thread lift in order to lift and tighten your skin. Aging is part of life, but PDO threads can keep your wrinkles in check. You don’t need to go under the knife in order to obtain a more youthful appearance.

At Covington Dental Arts, we offer expert PDO threading services to rejuvenate your facial tissues, improving your skin’s tone and firmness.

We can help you restore your skin’s health with this safe and non-allergenic treatment. If you’re wondering if PDO threads are right for you, call our office to set up your consultation. Your comfort is our top priority. We use PDO threads to provide you with a full smile makeover and will ensure the process is as smooth and easy as possible for you

What Are PDO Threads?

Polydioxanone (PDO) threads are tiny synthetic surgical sutures that build your body’s natural collagen through stimulating its natural healing process. They are resorbable and completely antigenic for humans. As we age, our body’s collagen production slows down, loosening our skin. PDO threads smooth out wrinkled skin through activating natural collagen production, immediately lifting your face.

PDO threads increase your facial volume and improve the appearance of fine lines. Since they work with your body, you’ll notice more natural results in damaged areas and reduction of wrinkles than you would with other treatments.

There are two types of PDO threads: smooth and barbed/cog. Smooth threads are thinner than human hair while barbed threads are thicker and have tiny barbs or cogs which engage with your skin in order to lift it when deployed. Within a few months, the threads are fully absorbed by your body, providing you with tightened and more youthful skin for 12-24 months following the procedure.

PDO threads are used to treat a wide variety of cosmetic concerns. These include:

  • Smoothing out crepey and sagging skin
  • Reducing acne scarring
  • Enhancing cheeks
  • Lifting your neck
  • Reducing wrinkles
  • Repairing nasolabial folds
  • Stimulating long-term collagen production
  • Skin tightening
  • Instant skin lifting
  • Improved skin texture and elasticity
  • Chin fat removal
  • Brow lift
  • Lip volume
  • Tear troughs
  • The Procedure

When you schedule your PDO thread treatment with Covington Dental Arts, we’ll give you guidelines to follow in order to ensure there are no complications. Before you come in for your procedure, you’ll need to avoid anything which could increase risk of bleeding and bruising, such as smoking, alcohol, and medications such as aspirin and ibuprofen.

PDO threads increase your facial volume and improve the appearance of fine lines. Since they work with your body, you’ll notice more natural results in damaged areas and reduction of wrinkles than you would with other treatments.

When you come into our office for your treatment, you’ll sit in a reclined chair, and we’ll use a disinfectant to clean your face. We’ll give you a local anesthetic to ensure that the procedure is painless. We’ll then make a very small incision into the targeted area and insert a device called a cannula which will place the threads in your skin, providing immediate lifting results. The cannula will then be removed, we’ll cut the threads, and then ensure they’re secured.

You’ll be able to go about life as normal immediately following the procedure. It’s normal to have some bruising and swelling for 24-48 hours following the procedure. The area around the sutures may feel tender for up to a week after. We advise that you:

  • Don’t wear makeup for 12 hours after the procedure
  • Sleep on your back for 5 nights
  • Avoid activities that can increase swelling, such as alcohol and vigorous exercise
  • Apply antibiotic creams
  • Avoid extreme facial expressions
  • Go to your review appointment

You can expect your appearance to continue to improve over the months following your procedure as your body produces more collagen.
